Program Introduction
The Bachelor of Environmental Health (Hons.) provides a good foundation of knowledge and skills for students interested in starting a career in environmental health. The program integrates a broad basic science background with emphasis on the identification, assessment, evaluation and control of major environmental health problems such as water supply, waste disposal, food hygiene, occupational health, air pollution and others.
The application of environmental health knowledge, principles and methods is vital for the health of the general public. Environmental Health Practitioners work to assess, manage, control and prevent environmental risks through research, advocacy, and intervention at the community, national and global level.
Career Opportunities
Graduates are qualified to start their careers in environmental health officer positions with local government authorities and ministries, and the state health departments. The aim of this program is to produce Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) practitioners that capable of independent practice in any industry sector. The program has strengths in a number of areas including OSH legislation, OSH management, OSH risk assessment, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics and Emergency Response & Preparedness. This program differs from other programs, as it will embed a professional competency certification upon graduation.
Career Opportunities
Graduate from this program will be able to undertake roles in various sectors such as HSE Executive, Safety and Health Officer (SHO), OSH Coordinator, Industrial Hygienist, OSH Competent Person and HSE Consultant.
